Farmhouse Blues Sew-Along: Rustic or Coastal, Which Quilt Kit Will You Choose?

Farmhouse Blues Sew-Along: Rustic or Coastal, Which Quilt Kit Will You Choose?

This month inside the Quilting Your Legacy Monthly Challenge, we’re doing something completely different…

Instead of a quick little project, we’re sewing an entire quilt together — step by step — in a four-part YouTube series!

The quilt we’ll be making is the Farmhouse Blues Quilt Pattern by Villa Rosa Designs. At just $2, it’s one of the easiest, stash-friendliest quilts you’ll ever make. And the best part? We’ll be sewing it together, block by block, as a community.

✨ Two Quilt Kits, Two Stories

To make this sew-along even more fun, I pulled together two special Farmhouse Blues Fabric Kits — each one tells a different story.

🌾 Rustic Harvest

Warm browns, tans, and earthy neutrals. This bundle feels like autumn in quilt form — cozy, homey, and perfect for snuggling by the fire with a mug of cider.

🌊 Coastal Blues

Crisp teals and blues that feel fresh and timeless. This palette reminds me of vintage farmhouse dishes and seaside breezes — cool, calming, and classic.

🧵 Want to Just Add to Your Stash?

Maybe you don’t need a full kit… maybe you just want to top off your stash or add a few more fat quarters to round out your quilt. I’ve got you covered there too.

These bundles are perfect for mixing and matching, and you’ll still have everything you need to sew along with us this month.

🧵 A Sweet Little Story…

When I was pulling fabrics for these kits, my boys wandered into the studio and immediately had opinions (of course!). Colton said the Rustic Harvest fabrics looked like “apple pie,” and Landon decided the Coastal Blues looked like “the ocean we see on vacation.”

And you know what? They weren’t wrong! Quilts really do tell different stories depending on the colors we choose. That’s part of the fun — one palette feels warm and comforting, while the other feels fresh and full of energy. Both are beautiful, and both are worth stitching.

📝 What You’ll Need

To join the sew-along, you’ll need the Farmhouse Blues Quilt Pattern (credit where credit is due ✨). At only $2, it’s an easy download:

Then, gather your fabrics:

  • 14 Fat Quarters
  • 1 3/4 yards background
  • (Optional) 1 ½ yards border

Or, make it easy on yourself and grab one of the curated kits above — Rustic Harvest or Coastal Blues — or even one of my other fat quarter bundles if you want to tell your own story.

💛 Sew Along With Us

The very best part of this sew-along? We’re not doing it alone.

Come join the free Quilting Your Legacy Monthly Challenge Facebook Group, where we’ll be sharing fabric pulls, progress pics, and plenty of encouragement all month long.

And don’t forget — Part 2 of the series drops Wednesday on YouTube! We’ll keep building this quilt together, step by step.

🎉 Are You Team Rustic or Team Coastal?

So, what do you think? Are you drawn to the warm comfort of Rustic Harvest 🌾 or the fresh, timeless feel of Coastal Blues 🌊?

Whichever you choose, your Farmhouse Blues quilt will tell a story worth stitching. And by the time the holidays roll around, imagine having not just this quilt finished — but maybe three or four more — ready to gift to your favorite people this winter season.

Let’s make some magic together. 💛
