How Did I Get Here? — Episode 01

How Did I Get Here?
Sometimes quilting isn’t about learning something new.
Sometimes it’s about remembering.
This week, I shared something a little different on YouTube — the very first episode of a new, quiet series called How Did I Get Here?
It’s not a tutorial.
There’s no pressure to keep up.
It’s simply me, sewing, and reflecting on the stories that shaped my quilting life.
Growing Up in a Quilt Shop

I grew up in my grandmother’s quilt shop.
It was where I spent school breaks, weekends, and so many ordinary days that quietly became formative. I learned by watching — how she helped customers, how she chose fabrics, how she created a sense of calm and belonging just by being present.
At the time, I didn’t realize how much that environment was shaping me.
But years later, I see it clearly.
Those early days still influence how I quilt today.
They influence how I teach.
And they absolutely influence how I create spaces for other quilters now.
This Is a Different Kind of Sewing Video
This episode isn’t meant to teach you a skill.
It’s meant to give you a place to land.
If quilting has been part of your life in different seasons — early or late, steady or off-and-on — I hope this feels familiar. Like sitting down with a project you don’t need to rush.
Sometimes, simply making space is enough.

(I recommend pressing play while you’re sewing, folding fabric, or enjoying a quiet moment.)
A Question for You
I asked this question in the video, and I’d love to ask it here too:
How did you get here?
Was quilting already part of your life growing up?
Or did it find you later, during a meaningful season?
There’s no right answer — just your story.

If watching the video leaves you wishing you had a calm place to keep sewing — that’s exactly why I created the Legacy Quilters Membership.
It’s a supportive, low-pressure quilting membership where we sew one manageable project each month, together, with guidance and room to move at your own pace.
No rushing.
No overwhelm.
Just steady stitching and shared moments.

Thanks for being here.
This series will continue — one chapter at a time.
