✂️ 2025 Summer Quilting Classes at New England Fabrics
With Emily from Quilting your Legacy 🧵💛
There’s nothing better than a full day of sewing with kind-hearted people, beautiful fabrics, and a quilt you’ll actuallyfinish. If you’ve been craving creativity, connection, and time just for you, come join me—Emily—for one (or several!) of my in-person quilting classes at New England Fabrics in Keene, NH.
Each class is just $40 and runs from 9:30 AM to about 3:00 PM—perfect for beginner and confident quilters alike who enjoy clear instructions, gentle guidance, and lots of encouragement along the way.
💼 What’s Included in Each Class:
✔️ Step-by-step Sewing Guide Workbook
✔️ Full quilt pattern to keep
✔️ Hands-on instruction and community support
✔️ Fabric layout tips, troubleshooting help, and plenty of laughter
🧺 What to Bring to Class
To get the most out of your quilting day, here's what you'll want to bring along:
✂️ Your Sewing Machine
Make sure it’s in good working order and don’t forget:
▢ Power cord + foot pedal
▢ Extra bobbins
▢ Thread (neutral or coordinating with your fabric)
🔄 Rotary Cutter & Cutting Mat
We’ll be cutting fabric in class! A rotary cutter is a must. A small mat is great if you have one, but we’ll have shared mats available too.
📏 Quilting Ruler
Bring your favorite long ruler—ideally 6½” x 24”—for easy strip cutting.
▢ Bonus points if you bring square rulers for trimming blocks
🧵 Pins or Clips
Bring what you love using to keep your pieces in place while sewing.
🧼 Small Iron + Pressing Mat (Optional)
We’ll have classroom irons available, but feel free to bring your own for quicker pressing at your station.
🌈 Fabrics
Look at the quilt photo for suggested fabric amounts. Aim for a mix of light, medium, and dark fabrics for contrast—but don’t stress! You can also stop by New England Fabrics on Mondays or Thursdays, and I’ll help you pick your fabrics in person.
🪡 Basic Sewing Kit
▢ Small scissors or snips
▢ Seam ripper
▢ Fabric marking pen or chalk
▢ Extra thread or needles
💡 Bonus! Mention you're in Emily's quilting class at checkout and receive 10% off your class supplies at New England Fabrics!
💖 Optional Add-Ons
▢ Your favorite snack or lunch (no peanuts or nuts, please) – we’ll take a midday break
▢ A notebook or sketchpad for notes and layout planning
▢ A cheerful heart and willingness to try something new!

👋 Meet Your Teacher – Emily Hammer
Hi there! I’m Emily, founder of Quilting your Legacy and a lifelong quilter raised in my family’s fabric shop—Norton House Quilting in Wilmington, VT. I started stitching at age 10 on my grandmother’s lap, and ever since, quilting has been my way of healing, remembering, and creating something meaningful.
These classes are my favorite way to bring people together—to share stories, try something new, and leave with a finished quilt top (and a whole lot of joy).
