The Magic of Quilting your Legacy: January Monthly Challenge
Share
This January, Quilting your Legacy is starting again — not with pressure or perfection, but with gratitude, intention, and gentle stitches.
January is a natural pause.
A moment to gather your thoughts, take a breath, and gently set intentions for the year ahead. It doesn’t require big goals, perfect plans, or finished quilts to be meaningful.
This January, you’re invited into something quieter — the magic of gratitude, intention, and returning to what already feels good.
I’m spending this month reading The Magic by Rhonda Byrne. It’s a 28-day practice rooted in one simple idea: when you intentionally focus on gratitude, your life begins to shift — gently, steadily, and often unexpectedly.
And you’re invited to do this alongside me.
If you already own the book and it’s been sitting on your shelf, this is the perfect time to open it.
If you’ve read it before but drifted away from the practices, come back.
And if you’re curious and want to purchase it, you’re welcome to join in from wherever you are.
Throughout January, I’ll be sharing daily reflections from The Magic — and we’ll be tying them into both your personal life and your quilting life.
1️⃣ Day One: Counting Your Blessings
We’re starting simply.
Your only task today is to pause and notice.
Write down 10 things you’re grateful for — or just one if that feels right.
Gratitude doesn’t need to be grand to be powerful. It just needs to be honest.
To begin, I’ll go first. Here are 10 things I’m grateful for right now:
- My health and the ability to move through my days with strength.
- My boys — their laughter, growth, and the life we’re building together.
- A season of thriving, not just surviving.
- Clothes that fit, feel good, and keep me warm.
- Close friends and family who love me and truly show up.
- My sewing machine — a tool for creativity, healing, and storytelling.
- A warm, safe home that holds our routines and memories.
- The ability to pay my bills and provide stability.
- Growth I didn’t notice at first — the quiet kind that shows up as steadiness, clarity, and trust in myself again.
- George, my sweet pup, who brings comfort, routine, and unconditional love into my days.
I’m also deeply grateful for the ability to go on adventures, for knowing my pantry is full, for working in a quilt shop surrounded by like-minded people — and for being able to retreat into my sewing studio when I need quiet to create and record.
2️⃣ Your Turn
Now I’d love to turn this back to you.
What are 10 things you’re grateful for right now?
Or, if 10 feels like too much, what’s one thing you can name today?
Maybe it’s your sewing machine.
Maybe it’s a warm home.
Maybe it’s knowing you can sit down and quilt — even for ten minutes.
This isn’t about comparison.
It’s not about productivity.
And it’s definitely not about doing more.
It’s about reconnecting with why quilting matters to you — and letting that feeling guide you back to your creativity.
Throughout January, you’re welcome to:
- Reflect daily
- Share what resonates
- Sew something small
- Or simply sit with your fabric and your thoughts
There’s no deadline here. Only an invitation.
As the month unfolds, notice what begins to shift — in your mindset, your creativity, and your connection to quilting.
Because the magic of Quilting your Legacy isn’t found in doing everything.
It’s found in honoring what you already have — and choosing to begin again, gently. ✨
