Have you ever attended or wanted to attend a Shop Hop? Or maybe you aren't sure what they entail.

My Grandma was a founding member of the Vermont Shop Hop.

Quilt Shop Hops are lots of fun!

 

First, you check your calendar. (VT Shop Hop is March 16-25th 2018.) Second, head to your local quilt shop to buy the passport. (Hopefully, they will still have the premium which is a gift for you) Third, you fill your car with friends who also enjoy quilting, hand-work, and crafting or you could ask your friend if they wouldn't mind driving or help with driving to the participating shops. Or just enjoy the ride and treat yourself. Either way, get ready to have a blast!

 

When you get to your 1st shop here are some suggestions:

• Take a moment to catch your breath

• Need water, snack, or bathroom break? Do so.

• Read your passport to see what is on sale

• Each shop should have a free pattern.  Hopefully, it’s one you would enjoy making.

• Be sure to be entered door prizes - some shops offer a free give-a-way with a purchase

• Enjoy shopping

2018 VT Shop Hop Locations

The theme for the 2018 VT Shop Hop is, "embellishments."

I started out by challenging myself to create quilted blocks. I choose blocks that mean something to me and are representative of my Grandma. 

 

I didn't use any of the blocks above, however I did have fun making them! At the beginning of the year, I wanted to take a personal challenge to create quilt blocks and test my skills. In fact, I started out thinking I would make a lap size quilt, but now I may create a table runner with embellishments instead. (I LOVE the creative process!) I'll keep you posted on the official 2018 VT Shop Hop Embellishment Project! What to expect from Norton House Quilting during the shop hop with your passport:

• When you spend over $40. you'll receive a 1/4 pound of fudge or cookie cutter by taking your receipt next door to my Grandpa's 1836 Country Store
