Before we start, gathering all the supplies you'll need is essential.

These include:

  • Gather your Quilting fabric (see Sewing Guide for exact measurements)
  • Quilting ruler - I used the Creative Grids 18 1/2" x 2 1/2"
  • Rotary cutter - Olfa (many colors to choose from)
  • Cutting mat - (mine is at least 15 years old)
  • A sewing machine is cleaned and ready to sew
  • 100% Cotton thread - 50 weight
  • Iron

Once you have your supplies ready, it's time to start sewing.

  1. First, you'll want to choose a center square for your Log Cabin quilt block, which will be the focal point of your design.
  2. From there, you'll add strips of fabric in a spiral fashion around the center, building out the block in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction.
  3. The end result will be a square with different colors or patterns surrounding a central square.
